View Toward Axe Edge Moor

The Peak District is a place of incredible beauty - the Peak District in autumn? Triply so!

These stoic cows, multitudinous sheep, intriguing farm buildings, and vital goods lorry making its way through the countryside all combine to give a sense of early-morning "togetherness". Before many of the local inhabitants just a mile or so away had awoken from their "extra hour in bed" as the clocks turned back, we are reminded that for the farmers and logistics personnel of this country, time never really stops.

This 32.7MB digital download lets you peer closer into their world. Take note of the intricate details - the mast of Axe Edge Moor visible on the opposite horizon; the road signs in the valley below: the lone JCB amongst the barns, or the russet-coloured Land Rover parked quietly between two trees, both vital tools to produce the food which sustains us.

If you can count the number of sheep, please let me know!
